Staff dressed as beloved book characters, sparking excitement and conversation. From classic figures to modern favourites, the creative costumes showcased the power of storytelling.
Students enjoyed a range of book-themed activities. The library became a tranquil space where top readers indulged in cakes and hot chocolate while enjoying a 'blind date with a book,' selecting mystery novels to discover new favourites.
This week’s special ‘Work of the Week’ was inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, celebrating Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale. Students were invited to present their best Blue Zone work or presentation to Alice (Mrs McCann) and the Mad Hatter (Ms Stirling) in exchange for cakes and bookmarks.
Mrs Cawsey, our Literacy Coordinator, said: "World Book Day at Stockport Academy is a true embodiment of ‘Education with Character’, fostering a love for reading, creativity, and personal growth.
"We've had some great feedback already from students who really enjoyed the opportunity to indulge their love for books and we can't wait to build on this enthusiasm throughout the rest of the academic year."
