The event was all about conversation and collaboration. Staff welcomed residents with hot drinks, mince pies, and festive treats, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere to share ideas and stories. To make the experience even more comfortable, we set up a mobile living room, complete with sofas, soft furnishings, and seasonal decorations – a perfect space for meaningful conversations.
The aim was simple: to listen, learn, and build partnerships that will benefit both the wider community and our students and their families. We asked residents what they loved about their area and explored ways we could work together to provide support. From these discussions, exciting new connections began to form, including links with a local Wilderness Therapy service, a disability respite care provider, and an adult mental health support organisation to name but a few.
Reflecting on the success of the day, Ms Stirling, Assistant Principal, said: "This event marks the start of an exciting journey for Stockport Academy. We’re committed to working hand-in-hand with our community, and we’re already planning to repeat this initiative in 2026 – so keep an eye out for us!"
