The trip, packed with engaging activities, gave students the chance to explore topics such as river studies, village settlements, and the dramatic landscape of Mam Tor. From river dipping and data collection to team challenges and a film night, the itinerary was designed to bring Geography to life in a fun and memorable way.
Students arrived on Wednesday and jumped straight into their first sessions, investigating local rivers and the village of Castleton. The following day was dedicated to a full exploration of Mam Tor, where students examined geological features and discussed the impact of erosion and tourism on the landscape. The final day wrapped up with more fieldwork and a packed lunch before heading home.
Geography Teacher Mr Ellor, who organised the residential, said: “This trip is a brilliant opportunity for students to apply what they’ve learned in class to the real world. It’s always great to see them so engaged and enthusiastic about Geography – and Castleton is the perfect place to inspire that curiosity.”
