D of E Students Are Happy Campers!

The Duke of Edinburgh Year 10 Bronze award was a resounding success this past weekend in Bakewell, located in the picturesque Peak District.

It was an event filled with adventure, team building activities, and personal growth for everyone involved. The first day of the expedition started with an early morning meetup, where all the eager participants gathered with excitement and anticipation. The group, who embarked on a challenging journey through the stunning landscapes of the Peak District, trekked along the trails and were met with breathtaking views of rolling hills and inspiring scenery. On Day 2, students demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination. They had to rely on their navigational skills, which they had learned and practised diligently in preparation. The group skillfully used maps, compasses, and their teamwork to navigate through the challenging terrains and unpredictable weather conditions that tested their resolve. Each participant had to work collaboratively, supporting and motivating one another, especially when fatigue started to weigh them down. One of the highlights of the expedition was the support they gave one another, even clapping when the final group crossed the finish line as they had a student who at one point didn’t look like finishing - which was an incredibly touching moment.Throughout the weekend, everyone displayed remarkable perseverance and resilience. Their sense of achievement and personal growth were palpable as they crossed the finish line, proud of their accomplishments and newfound confidence.Mr Sherwood, our D of E co-ordinator, said: "This experience will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our students' lives, equipping them with invaluable skills and memories that will shape their future endeavours.

"I would particularly like to thank the incredible staff members who selflessly gave up their weekends to support our students throughout the Duke of Edinburgh Year 10 Bronze award expedition, going above and beyond their call of duty to ensure the success and safety of the participants."
